Griffin Mobility Service Technician
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform mechanical; technical and maintenance services on mobility equipment such as, but not limited to, wheelchair accessible vans, wheelchair lifts, and stair lifts, under the direction of Senior Service personnel
Within 90 days:
- Perform installations & be able to diagnose and repair basic mechanical and electrical issues
- Install & diagnose basic problems with Transfer seat bases
- Install Wheelchair Restraint Systems, electrical & manual
- Actively assist in the installation of Stair Lifts, Ramps, and Vertical Platform Lifts
- These jobs often require basic carpentry skills and understanding the use of such tools
- Actively assist in the installation of Ceiling Track Patient Transfer systems
- These jobs often require being in an attic-space for periods of time
- Understand the process and procedures of the Service Dept.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to communicate clearly, both oral & written Constantly
- Able to stand for long periods of time Frequently
- Able to sit for long periods of the time Occasionally
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs Frequently
- Able to drive a company vehicle (be insurable) Constantly
CHARACTERISTICS NEEDED FOR THIS POSITION
- Prior experience in automotive repair, the mobility industry, or at least a good, basic, technical knowledge of auto mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical issues is a PLUS!
- Basic carpentry skills is beneficial
- Required for building ramps & some home modifications
- Customer service skills & a pleasant, friendly demeanor
- Ability to read & understand written directions/installation/service manuals
- Valid Driver's license with a (mostly) clean driving record
- Required by our insurance to drive company or customer vehicles
- Valid auto insurance (to prove the employee is insurable)
- Good communication skills (oral & written)
- Substance free during work hours
- Griffin Mobility has a no-tolerance policy for alcohol or illegal drug use on the worksite, and cannot hire individuals who regularly use prescription drugs that may impair their ability to drive or operate machinery/tools
- If hired permanently, be able to travel periodically for training, sometimes for up to a week
- Training schedule could be heavier during the first year of employment but would be more sporadic after initial courses
- Strong work ethic and the desire to work in a team environment
